Man is the only species known to us, who can exercise the capacity of self determination; coordinate our capacity for abstract thought with the hands of a tool maker.  We are the only species known to us, endowed with a life supportive biosphere effectively as our private fiefdom.

We were bought into being by forces & causes unknown & unknowable.  We do not know whether we exist as a product of random chance or by deliberate plan & intention.  The Bible expresses deep gratitude for our existence.  Man is uniquely privileged; the stars, the animals, the plants & the sun would love to be us, look at the choices we have which they don’t.

Yet man is also uniquely challenged, our self respect requires we be worthy of our extraordinary place in the greater scheme of things.

What is the sum of the Bible?

~How do we turn the human experiment into a creditworthy exercise~

That is the sum of the Bible.

The Bible holds faith is a private matter, & allows all people a private & individualized relationship with God.   The same Bible holds Salvation off humanity is a public matter & a public duty from which none are exempt. Humanity is a common condition.   We sink or swim together.  There are no separate lifeboats for those who hold themselves exclusively saved.

While respecting faith as private between the individual & God, Christ calls all people to act together so we be collectively saved in him.   Salvation of the whole is salvation off yourself, & thus the fulfillment off your private faith.

It is not axiomatic that man even has a pre-intended purpose, be it higher or otherwise; its just our own self respect & self worth require that we do.  Yet the universe accords no guidelines as to how man should conduct himself, which leaves it over to us.

Thus, Christianities focus on the Christ who lives in & through us.

I have heard judges pontificate that the law exists to allow right & justice to be done.  This is fatuous bombast.  Man does not have the capacity to do right by or justice to everything.  There would be no higher moral order if we could; no point to self determination if there were no right & wrong choices to make, nor would there be any law of consequence.

To do right by a nature spirit may do wrong to God in the Highest. To give justice to an Asian Emperor God may do injustice to God in the Highest.  To do right by & give justice to a defective person like Muhammad; is to do wrong by & be unjust to God in the Highest.  To do right by & give justice to God in the Highest, may do wrong by & injustice to the lesser self interest of all off the others.

We cannot say we strive to do right unless we first define that which we seek to do right by.  We cannot pursue justice without first asking, justice to what?   Nor can we specify turning the human experiment into a creditworthy exercise unless we first ask creditworthy relative to what?

Here the Bible is consistent, seek to know & serve God in the Highest, everything is defined relative to him.

Who is this God in the Highest, the highest man can aspire to & reasonably presume to be sound at any current level of human development.  He was the highest man could know & reasonably presume sound in the simple times of Abraham.  The highest man could know & reasonably presume sound at all the different levels of development experienced over the time of the Bible.  The highest we can know & reasonably presume sound, yesterday, today, tomorrow & forever.

A living faith striving to serve God in the Highest, for all off time.

That is the WHOLE of the Bible.
